We’re back on Thursday 12th February at Pop Recs, Sunderland to satisfy your spoken word cravings. There may be some love in the air, if that’s your jam. It’s also our BIRTHDAY! YIPPEE!

Doors open at 6pm: grab a drink, take a seat and sign up for your open mic slot when you arrive before they’re all snapped up. @thatjameswhitman will be recording from 6pm for our podcast. Poetry kicks off at 7pm, with an interval half way through proceedings. New folks always welcome - just turn up!

Our headline set this month comes from author of many a publication, including The Princess of Felling (2019), Loose Threads and Sacred Spaces (2021) and Don’t hassle me with your sighs, Blyth (2025), the bloody mint ELAINE CUSACK!

Our open mic night remains FREE! But... Pop Recs give us the run of the place every month, so please stick a quid in the jar on the bar, if ya can!
