Format:
There will be a limit of 48 competitors. Everybody in the high school and up groups should bring their own controller and any additional accessories if you require them (we will have a limited amount of controllers to be borrowed, but we can't guarantee any controller type. Also, Nintendo Switch 2 Controllers are not compatible with our original Switches). Anyone in the middle school or elementary school groups should plan to use our controllers, unless you have a special controller you want to use in the tournament.

Elementary and Middle School Competitors will be split into their own 2 groups, while High School and above will have 2 other groups that they compete in separately. After the initial Swiss matches, our top 2 elementary, middle school, and high school competitors will compete in one winner-takes-all show match to see who will win their special prize!

The competitors will be competing in a Swiss-style format. Every competitor will be in a group and will play 5 best 2 out of 3 matches, after each round of matches, players will face people with the same record as them (i.e. someone who is 1-0 will go against someone else who is 1-0). After the Swiss rounds, we will have special matches and awards for our younger competitors. Then there will be a top-16 final cut, with the top 16 people in the Swiss rounds competing in a double elimination bracket to determine the placements in the tournament. All top 16 matches will be best 2 out of 3, with the grand finals being a best 3 out of 5. (If there is time, more matches can be best 3 out of 5.)

For controller set-up, all players will put their name they signed up with (or an abbreviation of it) as their in-game name, and set-up their controller settings on all Switch consoles, before the matches begin. All games will be played with 3 stocks, 7 minutes, no items, no stage hazards, on a map selected using the designated Wisconsin ruleset. For Middle School and Elementary Students, they will use 3 minutes on the game time instead. Each competitor will get to ban stages they pick, and then the stage they play will be picked from the remaining stages. Characters will be selected after stage is selected.

Live Pairings and Results:
We will be using start.gg to organize the Swiss rounds and Top 16 bracket format. We will look to have live pairings and results as the matches are going on, on that website (start.gg/FocusCup7). Players will be self-reporting matches, based on the system provided (we will go over this in the competitor orientation).
