- **Event Description**: Join us on our Ruskin Campus or virtually at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 26 for the 2026 Orlando Biomedical Ethics and Catholic Social Teaching Lecture titled, “Medical and Ethical Considerations of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases,” will feature Mary Koslap-Petraco, DNP, PPCNP-BC, CPNP, FAANP. In-person and virtual options are available.

Dr. Mary Koslap-Petraco is a clinical assistant professor at the Stony Brook University School of Nursing in Stony Brook, NY, and a primary care provider in her own private practice after working for Suffolk County Department of Health Services for 30 years where she used her experience as a public health nurse to make system level changes. While on staff at SCDHS, Dr. Koslap-Petraco managed the immunization and lead programs and provided education to staff and the public on various communicable diseases and assisted in the management of communicable diseases. She has been appointed to the New York State Immunization Advisory Council by Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins. Dr. Koslap-Petraco is a member of the ad hoc advisory board of the New York State Get Smart safe use of antibiotics campaign, a nurse consultant for the Immunize.org, and past chair of Vaccinate Your Family-The Next Generation of Every Child by Two Advisory Board.

Dr. Koslap-Petraco speaks on immunizations and infectious diseases nationally and internationally and has authored numerous articles and written chapters in eight textbooks. She is also an active parishioner at St Rose of Lima parish in Massapequa, NY where she is a Eucharistic minister and teaches faith formation. Dr. Koslap-Petraco received the St. Joseph award for over 15 years of service to faith formation.

She is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Dr. Koslap-Petraco received the Doctor of Nursing Practice and an MS in child health and pediatric nursing from Stony Brook University. Dr. Koslap-Petraco received a BSN from Excelsior University in Albany, New York, and earned a diploma from the Bellevue School of Nursing in New York City.
