Youth Ages 10–25 & Tribal Elders Encouraged to Sign Up
The Wassamasaw Tribe is excited to launch our Youth Garden Project, a land-based learning program that brings together our youth, our elders, and our Tribal leaders to strengthen cultural knowledge, food sovereignty, and environmental stewardship.
Each session will be led by Youth Teachers from the Tribe, with support from a Tribal Board Member and the Elder Knowledge Holder who signs up for that date. Together, they will guide hands-on lessons in gardening, harvesting, traditional foodways, land skills, and teachings that help preserve our culture and protect our environment—especially our streams and waterways.
This project supports our goals of
• developing youth leadership,
• empowering cultural knowledge sharing,
• teaching sustainable land practices,
• keeping our waterways clean and healthy, and
• strengthening community wellness and food sovereignty.
