FINSTER FEST 2026 MUSICIANS
The Paradise Garden Foundation is excited to announce four artists who will top the music schedule for Finster Fest 2026, September 19-20 at Paradise Garden in Summerville, GA: Jim White, Abe Partridge, T. Hardy Morris and Julia Barfield.
Music will ring out on three stages across Howard Finster's Garden, with a diverse, rootsy lineup. Stay tuned: The full schedule will be announced soon!
⭐️
Jim White (1:30 p.m. Saturday, Mosaic Garden)
Jim White gets around. When he’s not releasing his own critically acclaimed solo albums, he splits time producing records for other songwriters, exhibiting his visual art in galleries and museums across the U.S. and Europe and publishing award-winning fiction.
Jim has released seven eclectic, totally uncategorizable albums plus another six even stranger side projects. Known for his intricately layered, highly cinematic production values, he has had numerous back catalog songs appear both in film and television.
Fans celebrate Jim as the narrator and de facto tour guide for the award-winning BBC documentary "Searching for the Wrong Eyed Jesus," a road movie set in the rural South that the L.A. Times described as “decidedly strange, delightfully demented.”
Prior to becoming a musician Jim worked countless menial labor jobs: dishwasher, landscaper, lifeguard, cook, surfboard laminator, road builder, culminating with 13 long years driving a taxi cab in New York City (where he met David Byrne and signed to Byrne’s Luaka Bop record label).
Jim has written a memoir, "Incidental Contact," which Mojo magazine described as being “unputdownable”; his latest book is "Skirmishes with the Lord," a chronicle of the making of "Searching for the Wrong Eyed Jesus."
⭐️
Abe Partridge (11 a.m. Sunday, Meditation Chapel)
Abe is a heralded musician, singer-songwriter, visual artist, storyteller and documentarian based in Mobile, Alabama. Since the release of his debut album "Cotton Fields and Blood for Days" in 2018, Abe has toured relentlessly, including several tours throughout Europe. He is a regular at several great music festivals such as the 30A Songwriters Fest, and the Laurel Cove Music Fest as well as listening rooms across the country including the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Eddie's Attic in Atlanta and Duke's in Indianapolis. Recently, he toured extensively with Matthew Sweet, Drivin' N Cryin' and Dar Williams in support of his latest release "Love in the Dark."
Along with co-producer Ferrill Gibbs, Abe created the "Alabama Astronaut" podcast, where he records songs previously undocumented at holiness, serpent-handling churches in Appalachia. It was in the Top 10 documentary podcasts on Apple Podcasts within days of its release and now has more than 100K downloads.
When Abe is not writing or touring, he is also a highly acclaimed visual artist. His paintings, primarily acrylic on tarred board and watercolors, hang in art galleries around the Southeast and in the private collections of Tyler Childers, Mike Wolfe ("American Pickers") and Tommy Stinson (the Replacements), among others. In addition to playing music, Abe will show his art during Finster Fest.
⭐️
T Hardy Morris (3 p.m. Sunday, Mosaic Garden)
Born and raised in Georgia, Hardy got his start with southern psych-rock/grunge outfit Dead Confederate, which shared bills with the likes of Dinosaur Jr. and R.E.M. in addition to making its national TV debut on "Conan."
When the band split up, Hardy hit the ground running under his own name, releasing his solo debut, "Audition Tapes," to widespread acclaim in 2013. Over the course of the next decade, he went on to put out three more similarly lauded solo records, prompting love everywhere from Pitchfork and SPIN to Paste and Billboard and earning dates with the likes of Jason Isbell, Drive-By Truckers, Shovels & Rope and Shakey Graves. He's a real deal songwriting artist rooted in tradition and thoroughly contemporary in sound.
⭐️
Julia Barfield (1:30 p.m. Sunday, Mosaic Garden)
A 22-year-old Athens, GA-based singer-songwriter, Julia was raised in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains – an upbringing filled with the folk and Americana music that inspire her sound and the experiences that inform her writing. After relocating to Athens to study at the University of Georgia, Julia found herself immersed in the vibrant Athens music scene. She began making her way around local open mics and playing on small bills until the subtle magic of the Athens music scene pushed her in the direction of her first recording project.
Born out of chance meetings at the local guitar shop and the kindness of friends and strangers, Julia’s debut EP “Keep to Me” is a definitively Southern patchwork of songs that is equal parts heartache and hope, delivering difficult truths with casual conviction and a warm, gentle-yet-commanding sound that have become her signature.
