# Event Details - **Event Name**: An Introduction To Drawing For Beginners - **Event Start and End Date**: Mon, 14 Sep, 2026 at 06:00 pm – Mon, 28 Sep, 2026 at 09:00 pm (+01:00) - **Event Description**: This is a relaxed 3 week workshop that will teach you the basics of drawing; giving you the confidence to develop skills in your own style.About this Event14/09/26-23/09/26 Monday evenings from 6pm to 9pmAN INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING FOR BEGINNERSA three week art course (9 hours), Monday evening from 6pm to 9pm.During these classes we will learn how to draw, from producing a quick sketch to a detailed drawing, and we will discover how basic drawing techniques can be applied to any subject matter.In the first session we will learn how to create a realistic-looking texture using a selection of pencils, charcoal sticks and fine line pens. We will practice shading by using strokes, feathering, crosshatching, fading shading, learning about form, light, shapes, composition, depth and perspective. We will achieve these by drawing simple 3-D shapes and a still-life.In the second session we will continue to practice how to shade and we will learn how to combine charcoal sticks, compressed charcoal and charcoal pencils by drawing a landscape. You are welcome to bring a photo of your favourite landscape spot, whether this is in your local area or a favourite holiday memory.In the third session we will be having fun by exploring the art of architecture. We will be drawing a townscape/cityscape with ink pens that come in the range of different sizes and colours. You are also welcome to bring a photo of your favourite building or town streetscape, to make your drawing experience more personal. Though we will take inspiration from famous artists, our aim will be to create an original and unique piece of art.We will learn, experiment, be creative and have fun.*Please note that we run all of our courses on a minumum number of participants.What materials do I need ?Please bring a selection of pencils, charcoal sticks and fine line pens. Along with some good quality art paper or a sketch book.Supplies can be purchased from a variety of places, depending on budget and preference, for example Goslings Art Shop in Sudbury, The Works, Poundland or online from Amazon for example.We will be drawing and sketching on tables, but everyone is welcome to bring an easel if they have one.If you have any questions about what to bring to the class please contact the centre for more information.About your tutor:Marina T-Harrison has a BA Hons in Arts ( BA in Painting, Electives in Scenography, and Conservation and Restoration) and Master in Arts (MA in Scenography, Theatre Direction Pathway).Her educational background is built on the values of the University of Arts London, where she completed her education in the arts at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.Marina has been teaching at WSC for several years, on many art courses and workshops.Whether you are interested to have art as a hobby and a leisure activity, or pursue a career in the arts, Marina is a strong believer that you can achieve this at any stage of your life.Anyone who is under the age of 18 must been supervised by their parent or guardian.If any of the courses you wish to attend are full or you cannot make the date, please let us know so that we can register your interest and let you know of future opportunities or add your name to a reserve list.You can contact the team on sudbury@easterneducastiongroup.ac.uk or telephone 01787 880619.Anyone who is under the age of 18 must been supervised by their parent or guardian.Please note we run all our courses based on a minimum number of participants.If you are no longer able to attend the class please contact the team at your earliest convenience.
