In 1979, after eight years working on military aircraft programs and serving as a recognized “Key Man” at Grumman’s Plant 6 in Calverton, New York, he transferred to Stuart’s Plant 77 at the Stuart Airport.Throughout his career, Ken advanced from Lead Worker to Production Planner and later Production Engineer following Northrop’s acquisition of Grumman in 1994. His expertise played a critical role in transferring Northrop parts into Grumman’s computer systems, saving the company significant time and resources. By the time he retired in 2001, Ken had earned 35 Project Sterling Awards for outstanding contributions and performance.Beyond aerospace, Ken has long been dedicated to community service and mentorship. A lifelong supporter of Scouting, he served as a Scoutmaster, earned numerous Scouting and Catholic Diocese religious awards, and remains active with Eagle Scouts and his church today. He also enjoys woodworking and furniture restoration, a hobby he first developed through adult education classes in New York.In 2023, Ken was invited by Elliott Museum CEO Rob Steele to assist in the development of the museum’s Grumman Exhibit, which officially opened in 2025. Following the exhibit’s debut, he joined the museum as a volunteer, where he has become a favorite among guests for his engaging storytelling, technical knowledge, and firsthand experiences in aerospace history. His passion for preserving Stuart’s aviation legacy continues to inspire visitors of all ages.Joining him is Brian Westphal, Training Manager at Daher, the global aerospace company that continues Stuart’s proud tradition of advanced aviation manufacturing and aerostructures production.
