Upsewing Taranaki is a space for stitching not ditching cloth and clothes. Whether it's getting creative with needle and thread or sewing machines, we are all about repurposing and upcycling to reduce waste and teach practical sewing skills.

All skills levels welcome. We have absolute beginners learning how to thread a machine all the way to seamstresses and creative people designing their own clothes. 

Our mentors will help you with whatever you are working on. Work on your own projects like mending, or upsew for one of our community projects. 

We have small projects like making a reuseable shopping bag or zippered boxy bag that help you learn to sew and you go home with something you created.

Bring a Sewing Machine if you have one, you can learn how to care for and use your machine. We have a collection of machines for anyone that doesn't have their own. 

Run by local Taranaki Timebankers for all the community, you can learn all about Timebank at one of these sessions.
