White Liars / Black Comedy

Two comedies of very different style but linked by themes of lies, deception, class and not being able to see what's under our noses...

White Liars
Set in a faded seaside town, White Liars unfolds in the cluttered booth of Sophie Lemberg, a fortune teller with a flair for theatrical mystique and a past steeped in faded grandeur. Into her world step Frank, a cynical music manager, and Tom, his troubled rock singer client. Frank has paid Sophie to manipulate Tom’s romantic choices through staged clairvoyance, but as the reading progresses, it becomes clear that everyone is lying, not just to each other, but to themselves.

Black Comedy
Young sculptor Brindsley Miller is on the brink of a breakthrough. He’s borrowed antique furniture from his absent neighbour to impress both his fiancée’s father and a wealthy art collector. But just as the guests arrive, a power outage plunges the flat into darkness...

As more visitors arrive, including Brindsley’s ex-girlfriend, the neighbour and an electrician, the chaos escalates. Secrets are exposed, identities mistaken, and social pretences unravel in a whirlwind of physical comedy and verbal wit.
