- **Event Description**: Are you interested in creative writing in a low-key, supportive setting? This class will evolve with its attendees, according to what you most want to learn and focus on!

We'll start with the basics — focusing on why you want to write and what inspires you.

Then we'll dive deeper to discuss symbols, metaphors, themes, plot and character development in a way that can apply to any genre or medium of writing.

I'll share guided prompts paired with a different theme every week, such as "List-making for creative thinking," "How to write realistic dialogue," and "Tapping into all 5 senses."

This class is for anyone, 18 or older. Each class is different, so you can come to one, or come to all!

NOTE: Classes cost $20 each / Bring your own notebook or laptop!


ABOUT AMANDA: 
Amanda is a short story writer, DIY filmmaker, screenwriter and editor. She was the editor-in-chief of a literature & art magazine in Denver called Suspect Press that ran for 7 years, and she's published several stories and essays, as well as been featured on podcasts and live storytelling shows. She has a Bachelor's degree in English from BVU. Since graduating college, she's lived in Vermont, Colorado, Oregon, and Alaska. She was born and raised in Storm Lake and just moved back to start graduate school for screenwriting this fall at MIU in Fairfield, Iowa.
