We are delighted to welcome back Martin Webb from MVW Ceramics after his February workshop sold out in record time!
In this workshop you will learn to make a replica medieval tile...on a genuine medieval site!
The course involves making up to four tiles which will be glazed and fired after the class.
Tile designs can be created by impressing or carving into the clay, once you have pressed or carved your tile, a lighter colour clay is pressed in. After a short wait which gives the inlayed clay a chance to partially dry the tile is scrapped back to reveal the inlayed design.
In the first part of the class you will inlay a pre-pressed tile, this is made with a replica mould copied from tradition design.
In the second part of the class you will create a medieval or contemporary tile using your own designs.
Tea & coffee will be provided throughout the workshop and is included in your ticket price.
Please feel free to bring any other drinks, snacks or lunch you may need for the day as we do not have a café on site. Breaks will be decided on by the facilitator on the day to fit with the group.
Free parking on site.
The primary purpose of this event is to raise money for WMBT and to support conservation, management, maintenance and improvement of the WMBT site.
If you wish to avoid the online booking fee then please contact the office to arrange a time to come and book in person.
