Join us for our get-togethers for musicians, music activists, and anyone who loves talking about music and the industry.

Held at The Georgian Theatre Bar from 6-8pm, this event gives you the opportunity to chat with music industry experts and ask them anything you’d like to know—all while enjoying free pizza and pop.

For this event, we want to look at the industry from the artist's side of things and so we welcome local artist's Jordan Ray, Jodie Nicholson, Dylan Cartlidge & Lizzie Esau, who between them have years of knowledge and experience when it comes to songwriting, releasing music, performing live, touring, applying for funding, press/radio and navigating the music industry, therefore can offer real-world advice and insight for anything you may wish to know.

The event is FREE and open to all and is made possible thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund

Jordan Ray
Jordan Ray (Avalanche Party/Magick Godmothers/The Blinders) has been a touring musician for over 10 years including multiple European tours, UK tours, festival appearances and American shows. From DIY house shows to festival main stages, Jordan has a wide range of experience of organising and navigating the touring world. Jordan is in the early stages of setting up a new project - PRIMITIVE. 

Jodie Nicholson
Artist, producer and songwriter Jodie Nicholson creates powerfully intimate, achingly human music. In her critically acclaimed solo-project, Nicholson combines introspective lyricism, brooding piano, subtle electronics and delicate guitars to carve her own sonic identity. With walls of tightly-knit harmonies (in what she likes to call ‘vocal landscaping’), Nicholson’s reed-like vocals remain the compelling constant over a constantly evolving sound.

As well as extensive support at BBC Radio 1 from the likes of Sian Eleri and Jess Iszatt, Jodie has been playlisted on BBC Radio 6 Music and picked up further airplay from Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 and Patrick Kielty on BBC Radio 5 Live. To date, Nicholson has amassed over 40 national BBC radio plays. Furthermore, Jodie’s self-produced, self-released tracks have landed two syncs on ITV’s Love Island and picked up tastemaker coverage from The Line of Best Fit, Atwood, Mahogany, Alexrainbird, Louder Than War, Record of the Day and a recent cover feature for NARC. Magazine.

With millions of streams on DSPs, Nicholson’s tracks have featured on editorial playlists such as Spotify’s Infinite Indie Folk, Apple Music’s New In Alternative and Amazon’s Brand New Music, to name but a few.

Away from her solo project, Nicholson collaborates with artists/producers in the EDM sphere under the pseudonym ‘soft centre’. With releases on legendary labels such as Anjunabeats, Another Rhythm and New State.

Dylan Cartlidge
Dylan Cartlidge is a rapper, multi-instrumentalist & producer. His music incorporates elements of funk, soul, hip hop, gospel rock, and R&B and he is known for his hopeful narratives. He was featured in the first episode of BBC documentary The Mighty Redcar, where he was seeking a record deal. He signed to Glassnote Records and released his deubt album Hope Above Adversity in 2021.  

Currently working on this next project, he's been featured on US Hip Hop collaboration Cheat Codes by Dangermouse x Black Thought, Cartlidge's vocals we're on two tracks 'Because' & 'Strangers' featuring artists such as A$ap Rocky, Run The Jewels, Joey Bada$$ & Russ in 2023 as well as touring around Europe with Superorganism.

Cartlidge was named to NPR World Cafe's '30 Under 30' following his on air appearance in 2021. He has also appeared at Glastonbury Festival, SXSW, The Great Escape, and BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend at Middlesbrough.

Lizzie Esau
Lizzie Esau (pronounced EESaw) is a rising force in the UK music scene. Her unique sound combines an epic indie anthemic style with a grungy, introspective view of life as a 20 something...The North East artist has earned support from industry heavyweights like Greg James (Radio 1 Breakfast Show), Alyx Holcombe
(R1 Rock), R6Music (Emily Pilbeam), BBC Look North, and Danielle Perry (Absolute Radio) to name a few. Over the past two years, she has solidified her reputation as a dynamic live performer, playing stages across the UK and Europe— including two standout sets at Glastonbury 2024, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend,
Boardmasters, The Great Escape and many more.

With well over 2 million streams to her name, Lizzie continues to make waves, collaborating with acclaimed producers Catherine Marks, Iain Berryman, and long-time creative production partner Steve Grainger. Her momentum is undeniable, earning her a spot as BBC Introducing's 'One to Watch', alongside features in The Mirror, The Sun, and The Daily Star. She’s also gained early praise from Notion, Clash, Dork, and Narc magazines.
