Build your own robot from found objects, learn to use tools, recycle ethically, fight waste and have fun.About this EventTinkerbots is a hands-on, engaging workshop for children aged 7+ in which you create a robot sculpture from electronic waste to take home. This unique experience is sure to get your tinker juices flowing!Workshop leader Mark says:‘You can choose bits from my vast collection, or bring your own electronic waste and I will show you how to use the tools and equipment to create your very own robot!’Each session takes 1.5 hours. Sign up for one of three sessions on Saturday 15th November:10:30 - 12pm12:30 - 2pm2:30 - 4pmWhat you’ll doJoin other tinkerers to:Design a robot with a unique storyUse tools to dismantle waste products and put your sculpture togetherThink about waste in a new wayAnd, of course, build your own robot!Who’s this for?Strictly for ages 7+ (due to the nature of the tools and sharp objects used)Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Accompanying adults do not need to book a ticket. Every under12 booking automatically grants entry to an accompanying adult.Due to venue size, we ask that you don't bring more grown-ups or non-participating siblings so that everyone has plenty of room to create!What do you need to bring?All equipment is provided. But if you have electronic waste at home that you would like to use, please feel free to bring it with you.Additional informationLight refreshments and snacks will be provided.Due to safety reasons - lots of sharp objects! - we cannot accommodate younger siblings.CostThis event is free to attend. We charge a £5 booking fee, which is refunded on attending the event. Or, if you prefer, you can leave it as a donation to MadLab CIC to support future community-led events. Refunds will be processed within seven working days. If you cannot afford a ticket, please email office@madlab.org.uk with your name and postcode, and we will be in touch.About the facilitatorMark Haig is a maker and engineer with over 40 years of experience making robots. He is the creator of Gizmobots: robot artworks made from salvaged treasures found at car boot sales, skips, and scrapyards.
