- **Event Description**: Welcome to the first of two evenings of **deep listening** at Stockholm’s new venue for new music and art.

Throughout the evening, Fylkingen members Helene Berg, Paul Pignon, Ida Lundén and Thomas Bjelkeborn will be joined by guests Eva Lindal and Philippe Moenne-Loccoz (FR). Together, they explore the space between sound, image and physical space in a live and unpredictable encounter.

As an audience member, you can expect "exploratory and immersive soundscapes, unexpected visualities and spontaneous artistic encounters"

The evening is a member-initiated project by Paul Pignon and Thomas Bjelkeborn, presented as a Sound Quartet project with support from the Swedish Arts Council.


Philippe Moënne-Loccoz, after classical studies (double bass) and playing guitar and mandolin he studied electroacoustic composition at the Geneva Conservatory (Switzerland) with Rainer Bœsch (1st prize – commissioned by Radio Suisse). Meetings and notable works with Pierre Schaeffer, Pierre Henry, Tristan Murail, Luc Ferrari, Bernard Parmegiani, Alain Savouret… Founded the studio Collectif & Cie in 1980 (which became Musiques Inventives d’Annecy) which he directed until 2011. His music has been produced on around fifteen CDs.
His piece “MUTATIONS” was selected for the Grand Prix Lycéen des Compositeurs in 2007. Concerts in generative improvisation “live electronic” around the world with the Trio Collectif and currently with “Sound Quartet” co-founded in Stockholm with the composer Thomas Bjelkeborn. Creation residencies at EMS Stockholm, Banf (Canada), Visby (Gotland-Sweden). Taught electroacoustic composition at the Conservatories of Geneva, Annecy and at the CRD of Bourgoin-Jallieu until 2011. Develops applications with the MAX/MSP software for his own creations and for the performance of works notably by Tristan Murail and Hervé Bailly-Basin. Creates music for Installations, notably with Hervé Bailly-Basin (video creator).

Ida Lundén is a composer and musician working primarily in chamber music, electronic and improvised music.

Her music can be described as playful and exploratory and often takes its starting point from non-musical elements such as clothespins or footpaths threatened with closure.
She often uses previously existing music as a starting point for her compositions. Collaborations are an important part of her artistic work and she has, among other things, composed music for several dance performances.
Ida Lundén teaches composition at Gotland School of Music Composition, and is a lecturer in art with a focus on sound at Konstfack. www.idalunden.se.

Helene Berg works with moving images and is educated at the Royal Institute of Art (moving image) and SKH (mime).
She makes animated scenographies for stage performances and concerts, for example Stockholm Stadsteater, Örebro Länsteater, Theatre 3, Räserbyrån and HDN studio, and live visuals in various music collaborations, including with O-dense (Lisa Ullén, Emma Augustsson, Lisen Rylander Löve), Johan Arrias, Oddjob, Lise-lotte Norelius, Eva Sidén, Sten Sandell, Montag Mania (Isabel De Lescano, Fredrik Blank) and Ewert Ekros, and experimental films and music videos.
Helene has exhibited her filmic works at Dupont Underground, Washington D.C. and Candyland, Stockholm.
She likes to mix digital and analogue techniques and has a penchant for loops. She conducts her work through the company Create Motion 123. www.createmotion.se

Paul Pignon was born and grew up in the UK. Began playing jazz at 15. Studied physics at Oxford. While there in 1961 he made his first forays into non-idiomatic improvisation, abandoned Ph.D research at Oxford in favour of music. He moved to Yugoslavia and co-founded the Radio Belgrade Electronic Studio. 14 years working with the Synthi 100 which was originally custom built for the Studio. Active as composer of chamber, vocal electronic and improvised music there, leading the group Interaction.
In 1986 he moved to Sweden, composing and developing computer music software at Elektronmusikstudion (EMS Stockholm ). Member of FSTand Fylkingen. Producer at Fylkingen 1988-1992. Active as composer of electronic and instrumental works, and real-time composer on single reeds, didgeridoo, recorders, voice, laptop; currently with BOP, BONON, 2+(with Liisa Pentti), Free Speech, The Great Learning Orchestra, and other ensembles in Sweden and abroad.

Swedish violinist Eva Lindal is a performer of contemporary and improvised music, as well as a highly regarded baroque musician. She was a member of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra from 1986 to 1998. During her years with the orchestra, Eva established associations with the group Katzen Kapell and the contemporary group MA. Since 1998, Eva has worked mainly with small groups, often in collaboration with dancers, poets, actors and visual artists. In 2020, Eva and her sister, Anna Lindal, released the duo recording Bäver, which received international critical acclaim. In 2024, Eva and New York pianist Virg Dzurinko released their second duo album: Hotel at the End of the World.

Thomas Bjelkeborn is a long established composer and musician in international contexts and organises many music projects and concerts every year. His artistic springboard is contemporary art music as well as music technology innovation, i.e. innovative physical-digital musical instruments often combined with advanced audiovisual media. In ensembles such as the Sound Quartet, Thomas Bjelkeborn manages the quartet form with a new perspective, especially through the use of live electronics and real-time processing of instrument sounds.
