- **Event Description**: This talk will review the current situation in frontier AI development and the alarming consequences this has for AI risk and AI safety. The crucial issue of what we (humanity) can do to get our act together and make AI go well will also be addressed.

Olle Häggström is a professor of mathematical statistics at Chalmers University of Technology, a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and the author of five books. The bulk of his research qualifications is in probability theory and statistical mechanics, but in recent years he has reoriented towards global risk, AI safety and related topics.
