Assassination & Retreat! Bonnie Prince Charlie, Bannockburn House & The Jacobite Retreat From Stirling
We welcome you to the 280th anniversary of Bonnie Prince Charlie's stay at Bannockburn House!
Through guided tours of the house, you'll uncover the events surrounding the Prince’s stay at Bannockburn House. From his relationship with Clementina Walkinshaw, to the mounting pressures that led to the retreat from Stirling, and the far darker moment when the Prince became the target of an assassination attempt.
See the musket ball hole found last year and the new evidence shedding fresh light on this overlooked episode of the Rising. Due to fragility, the new evidence will only be on display for these 2 days!
Alongside the tours, the shop will be open with fresh Bannockburn House branded Jacobite gear, our famous blue bonnets, and all sorts of tartan treasures. We will also have special displays and guests throughout the house, making this a Jacobite January event that brings together place, politics, and personal drama at a decisive moment in 1746.
Warm up with tea, coffees, and homebaking - £5 voucher on sale at check in.
