On Saturday, November 8, American Patriotic Monuments, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is hosting an event to raise funds to install an exciting new work of public art at historic Kent Narrows in Grasonville, MD. The interactive sculpture designed by Tilghman Hemsley, who created the Maryland Waterment's Monument, celebrates the African American community's work in Maryland's powerhouse seafood harvesting and processing industry. Featuring full-scale boats and multiple bronze figures, the sculpture will allow visitors to "walk through the conversation," learning about the effort, achievement, and legacy of the Black community as they moved our delicious oysters, crabs, clams, and fish from Bay to table. Join us at the American Legion Post 278, 800 Romancoke Road in Stevensville from 7-11 pm for food, unlimited beer and wine, music, live and silent auctions, and fun.
