- **Event Start and End Date**: Wed, 15 Apr, 2026 at 07:00 pm (-05:00)
- **Event Description**: Join the Aldo Leopold Audubon Society on April 15th for a presentation by Erin Giese and Joe Torres from the Oneida Bird Monitoring Program!

Erin Giese is the Associate Director of the Cofrin Center for Biodiversity (CCB) at UW-Green Bay. After earning her master’s degree in environmental science and policy at UW-Green Bay, she got her job at the CCB and has been there for 14 years. Her role is to help seek funding and provide direction for the administrative, academic, and outreach operations of the CCB. Using her background in ornithology, wildlife monitoring, and project management, she serves as a principal investigator for the Great Lakes Coastal Wetland Monitoring Program, Oneida Bird Monitoring Program, and land management of UW-Green Bay natural areas. She administers the annual CCB Student Grant Program and serves as the founding advisor for the campus student organization, UW-Green Bay Bird Alliance.

Erin truly enjoys working with CCB student employees and training them to become the next generation of scientists. Additionally, she values her son, family, friends, equity, diversity, and inclusion above all else and enjoys sharing birds and wildlife with others.

Joseph Torres is the Outreach Specialist for the Oneida Bird Monitoring Program at UW-Green Bay’s Cofrin Center for Biodiversity. After graduating in the Spring of 2023 from UW-Green Bay as a non-traditional student with a double major in First Nation Studies and Business Administration, he began working on the Oneida Bird Monitoring Program 3 years ago when he was awarded the WiscAMP scholarship. Joseph incorporated some of his First Nations teachings during this time and is an enrolled member of the Oneida Tribe of Wisconsin. This job has taught him to appreciate all that nature has to offer and how wonderful she is. It has also shown him what positive results can happen when building bridges with the Oneida community and non-tribal members. This is one part of his job that thoroughly gives him a sense of satisfaction.

Join Erin and Joseph as they present on how their work with the Oneida Bird Monitoring Program has helped shape better management for land and birds.

ALAS programs for the 2025-26 season will continue to be hybrid, with the in-person presentation held at the Lincoln Center (1519 Water St., Stevens Point, Wisconsin) and remotely live via Zoom on April 15, 2026.
