- **Event Description**: Join us for “Fran Hamerstrom: A Woman’s Voice in Wildlife Conservation,” presented by Christine Thomas at 5 p.m. Feb. 26, in room 170 of the Trainer Natural Resources building. The program will explore the life and legacy of Fran Hamerstrom, one of the most unlikely women of her generation to become an internationally recognized wildlife biologist, and highlight the contributions of other remarkable women in Wisconsin’s conservation history.

Thomas, dean emerita of the College of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, is a recognized leader in conservation in her own right. She served the university for 40 years as a professor and later as dean. She was appointed by the secretary of the interior during the George W. Bush administration to the Sporting Conservation Council in 2005 and later served as vice chair of the Wildlife and Hunting Heritage and Conservation Council, appointed by the secretaries of the interior and agriculture during the Obama administration in 2010. She is also a member of the Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame.

This event is part of the Voices of Conservation in Wisconsin’s History Spring Seminar Series, hosted by the Wisconsin Center for Wildlife. The series highlights influential figures and ideas that have shaped conservation in Wisconsin and beyond. All events are free and open to the public and live-streamed on CNR's YouTube Channel.
