- **Event Description**: We have created a homeschooler program as part of the wider Hungry for History event! Homeschool Hunters lets students explore the ways that technology changed the way we eat.

This program will take place in our store exhibit. This exhibit was actually a functioning store from the late 1800s – mid 1900s. As a general store it sold a wide array of goods, including food items that show a transition from an agricultural economy to an industrial one. The lesson will consist of a series of 1–2-minute talks about food technology (manufactured food, canning, refrigeration, etc), followed by the students looking for an example of that technology in the store. Once they find an example of that technology, we can briefly talk about it before moving on to the next topic.

The fun doesn't end once they leave the store though! Black Shutter West Antiques & Vintage sponsors our event, which lets us give each family a hands-on activity to take home.

Our primary audience is upper elementary school, but we can adjust for younger or older students. The program costs $1.00 per student, due when the program starts. The program will be open for appointments between Monday, August 25 – Friday, August 29.
