- **Event Description**: We are truly honoured to welcome Kobie du Plessis, a world-renowned South African harpist, for a special performance at the Sustainability Institute.

Ms. du Plessis is an internationally distinguished musician whose artistry and dedication have inspired audiences across the globe. A graduate of the University of Pretoria and University of South Africa, she refined her craft under the guidance of acclaimed harpists including Daphne Boden, Susanna Mildonian, and especially Edward Witsenburg during her years in the Netherlands and Spain.

Her remarkable career has spanned solo, orchestral, and chamber music performances across South Africa, Europe, and Latin America. She has been a celebrated presence at the Rio Harp Festival since 2015, was named one of the top four harpists in the world in 2019, and had the distinguished honour of opening the festival in 2024. Kobie has performed with leading orchestras such as the Cape Town Symphony, CAPAB (Artscape), and the SABC Junior Orchestra, as well as with ensembles in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and Spain. Her collaborations include unforgettable performances with José Carreras, Luciano Pavarotti, and recordings for international radio and television.

Among her recent achievements are solo performances of Mozart’s Harp and Flute Concerto in Stellenbosch, opening appearances at the Rio and São Paulo Harp Festivals, and acclaimed online concerts for World Harp Day. In 2024, she opened the Rio Harp Festival with String Ensemble Uere, performing Debussy’s Danses and J.C. Bach’s harp concertos, and she returns in 2025 as a featured soloist. Her recordings, including The Magic of the Harp, have reached audiences worldwide and stand as a testament to her extraordinary talent and artistic vision.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Kobie du Plessis for her generosity in dedicating this performance in support of our community. All proceeds from this event will be gifted to the Stellenbosch Waldorf School, making this not only a celebration of world-class music but also an incredibly generous contribution to education and the arts. Our school community is incredibly blessed to receive such a unique gift. This is once in a lifetime performance on our doorstep in support of the school.
