Commissioned to mark the Festival’s 20-year milestone in 2025, the work has taken shape over the past months and now reaches completion. Composed of engraved discs bearing personal messages from hundreds of festival participants, faculty members and audience supporters, the artwork is both portrait and archive — a collective tribute to Desmond Tutu and to the community that has sustained SICMF over two decades.

Rather than a single image alone, the piece gathers voices. It reflects the Festival’s ethos: collaboration, conscience and shared artistic purpose.

The evening also includes a performance of The Selfish Giant by Peter Louis van Dijk, a work of narrative depth and quiet moral resonance.
