Thanks to grant funding from the City of Stayton, citizens who live, work or do business within the 97383 zip code have CPR/First Aid training available at low to no cost through June. The instructors are local EMTs, Paramedics. Anyone age 12 and up can participate. You as a citizen have a better chance of saving someone than our emergency responders because you are already there! That is how precious time is during an emergency. It is not uncommon for responders to encounter people standing by helplessly because they have no current training. We want to change that! Hands-on Learning: - Hands-Only adult, child and infant CPR, how to give rescue breaths and managing blocked airways (moderate to severe choking) - AED operation (automatic defibrillator) - Giving Narcan nasal spray to victims of opioid overdose e.g., fentanyl, Morph*ne) - Giving epinephrine for severe allergic reaction - Stop the Bleed for life-threatening bleeding control — direct pressure, tourniquets, wound packing - Oregon Good Samaritan Laws — understand how you are protected from liability when voluntarily helping someone Because of the Stayton Community Improvement grand funds, participants will receive a commercial tourniquet and Narcan spray if they want any. Physical limitations need not deter anyone. We train people to perform skills within their capabilities. Knowledge is power, and this training empowers you to know what to do.
