"...like a gagaku ensemble who have been listening to Sabbath" - The Wire
KUUNATIC er en eksperimentell rocketrio fra Japan, kjent for sitt unike lydbilde med hypnotiske rytmiske mønstre, kraftfulle kvinnelige vokaler og bruk av tradisjonelle japanske instrumenter. Med musikerne fra ulike musikalske og kulturelle bakgrunner skaper trioen en fengslende miks av rituell tromming, pulserende bass og atmosfæriske synther.
Debutalbumet Gate of Klüna (2021), produsert av Tim DeWit (Gang Gang Dance), fikk stor internasjonal oppmerksomhet for sin sjangeroverskridende stil. De har spilt på store festivaler som Roskilde, WOMAD og Le Guess Who?.
Oppfølgeralbumet Wheels of Ömon på Glitterbeat Records er helt nytt, fra april i år. Her utforsker de et sci-fi-univers med historier fra fiktive planeter, og et enda sterkere fokus på japanske tradisjonsinstrumenter.
Bandet består av Fumie Kikuchi (keyboard/vokal), Yuko Araki (trommer/vokal) og Shoko Yoshida (bass/vokal).
