American Philatelic Society. * REHEARSALS are expected to begin the last week of July, 3-4 times per week until tech week. Rehearsals will likely be Friday evenings and weekends through mid-August. After mid-August until tech week, rehearsals may include other weekday evenings. Load-in & tech week begin Saturday, September 12. CONFLICTS: Please be prepared to provide your availability at auditions. All actors MUST be conflict-free from 9/12 through 9/20. AUDITION PROCESS: You will be asked to read from sides provided at auditions. NOTE: Sides will be made available ahead of auditions at sockandbuskintc.org/auditions -- please check back later. A highly successful criminal defense attorney who prides himself on being intellectually superior and emotionally controlled. Arthur is witty, manipulative, theatrical, and deeply self-serving. The role benefits from strong verbal timing and the ability to shift between charm and arrogance. Actor must be comfortable kissing with female actor. * LOUISE JAMISON – Female lead, 30 - 60. Arthur’s wife. Sharp, resilient, and far more perceptive than Arthur initially assumes. Louise is poised and in control. This can lead to her appearing cold, even if she has strong feelings. The role benefits from the ability to shift between Louise’s true character and Arthur’s perception of her. * PROSECUTOR – Male supporting, 30 - 60. A manifestation of Arthur’s imagination that acts as his legal adversary. The prosecutor dissects Arthur’s murder plans with relentless logic and sarcasm. The role benefits from precision and a commanding presence. * JACKIE WILLIS – Female supporting, 20 - 40. Arthur’s mistress. Jackie appears to be oblivious and ditsy - filling the stereotypical “other woman” part. In reality, she is observant, intelligent, and ambitious. The role benefits from a high-energy presence.
