Five Wings Arts Council is pleased to partner with Sourcewell to offer free Cultural Competency Workshops for our area organizations.

What is Cultural Competence?  Cultural competence is the ability to understand, appreciate, and effectively interact with people across different cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds. It involves self-awareness of one's own biases, gaining knowledge of diverse cultural practices, and developing skills to adapt behaviors for respectful, effective communication and service delivery.

Designed for both staff and board members, this workshop includes instruction, self-reflection, and discussion to help organizations better consider and connect with all members of their communities across a variety of demographics. We will also discuss how increased cultural competency within our area organizations can translate to grants and projects.

Rachel Logan, an equity and inclusion consultant with Sourcewell, will lead this workshop. Logan has been a teacher, coach, trainer, and consultant for over 15 years. Her experience ranges K-12 in rural, suburban, and urban settings including multiple states and countries. Logan has a master's degree in curriculum and instruction and a K-12 literacy license.

In-person sessions will include a meal for participants.
