About the event

Fire Ecology and Post-Fire Recovery
When the ashes cool after a wildfire, what happens to a forest? How do the trees, flowers, salmon, animals, and other species recover? Learn about the impact of last year's Bench Lake and Wapiti Fires on the surrounding ecosystem with fire ecologist and former park ranger Melinda Markin. Melinda is the Project Coordinator for the Sawtooth Society and the Sawtooth Valley Wildland Fire Collaborative, the only collaborative in our region working collectively to reduce wildland fire risks in the Sawtooth Valley. For more information, see sawtoothfirecollab.org.
