Along the way, students will learn how green wood behaves, how sharp tools make the work easier and safer, and how generations of craftspeople have used these simple techniques to create useful “treenware” from the forest.

No prior experience is necessary. All tools and materials will be provided for use during the class. Students will leave with their spoon and the knowledge needed to continue exploring the craft on their own. Tools, carving materials, and additional basswood spoon blanks will be available for purchase for those wishing to continue their journey beyond the class.
