This 12 week course in French is aimed at those with a limited amount of vocabulary, and who can already speak a few simple sentences. It gives you the opportunity to:
Learn French in a relaxed and fun environment;
Prepare knowledge of French for studying or working abroad, including present and future tenses
Gain more detailed vocabulary and key phrases before a holiday
Gain an insight into French culture
Courses are open to everyone (students, staff and members of the public).
Each session lasts two hours on Thursday evenings, 6.30pm - 8.30pm, and upon completion you will receive a Certificate of Attendance. The first session will be on Thursday 7th November, and there will be 6 sessions before Christmas. The classes will start again after Christmas, with the final session taking place on Thursday 13th February.
A variety of teaching methods will be used to keep the lessons fun and interesting. There is no mandatory requirement for you to complete homework outside of class time, however your teacher may set additional exercises and activities that you can do to aid your learning. These tasks will be entirely optional.
The course is taught at a post-beginner level. It would suit people who can already:
recognise and use familiar words and simple phrases for concrete purposes;
introduce themselves or someone else;
ask and answer basic questions about home, family, surroundings etc;
communicate in a basic way when the other person speaks slowly and clearly, and is ready to repeat or reformulate to help communication.
