                "description": "For over 15 years Josette has researched, read, studied and listened to deeply understand the history of the local Black residents of St. Petersburg.  As a white woman she was motivated to understand the life experiences of Black residents and how it differed from her own.  She first used her knowledge as a docent at the civil rights exhibit at the Holocaust Museum in 2019 - 2020.  It was then that she saw first hand the impact of knowing this important history and she vowed to not stop teaching.  St. Petersburg Black History Bike Tour was created during COVID as a way to safely share this information and at the same time actually step on the ground of where the history first began.  Josette's current research is Campbell Park, the neighborhood where she now lives, and a historic Black community.  She is found several afternoons a week at the archives in the St. Petersburg History Museum."
