Vaccination and Masks OptionalCALLER: ADINA GORDONAdina Gordon finds an outlet for her loves of travel, music, dance and silliness by calling and dancing throughout the U.S. and Canada, facilitating joy and minor chaos wherever she goes. Combining a voice that makes you WANT to do what she says with a commitment to using that power for good and not evil, Adina calls dances both old and new that cause spontaneous eruptions of joy on the dance floor. She counts it as a job well done whenever anyone says, “I don’t really like squares, but they’re fun when you call them.”BAND: OAO -- OLIVER SCANLON, ALEX FORTIER, AND OWEN MORRISONOAO combines the talents of three amazing musicians who synergistically prove that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts!OLIVER SCANLONFiddler, mandolinist and tunesmith Oliver Scanlon began his early training on classical viola with a stint with the Vermont Youth Orchestra.  Scanlon was introduced to his mentor Pete Sutherland and the parallel universe of fiddle music at the age of nine.  In 2008, Oliver and a few talented middle school friends formed the group which became The Irregulars and in 2013 he co-founded Pete’s Posse and became the youngest member of Sutherland’s long running dance band The Clayfoot Strutters.  Oliver now teaches fiddle and mandolin in Syracuse, NY, performs at concerts and contradances with a variety of musicians including his contradance quartet Stove Dragon, and provides live sound reinforcement in New York and New England.ALEX FORTIERAlex Fortier has been studying and playing various piano traditions since the age of 6. His accompaniment stylings range from New England and Quebec to Cape Breton and beyond. With varied influences and a penchant for invention, he can be found performing in western New York and all across the northeast with Missing Lynx, Quicksilver, and other groups.OWEN MORRISONOwen Morrison is a highly regarded flatpick guitarist known for his clean, expressive style and deep musicality. A mainstay in the contra dance circuit for more than two decades, his guitar has grounded bands such as Elixir, The Figments, The Morrison Brothers, and many more. His current bands include Topspin, The Faux Paws, and Supertrad. As a teacher, Owen has a gift for breaking down complex techniques into approachable lessons that inspire players at all levels. He has been a featured instructor at many trad music camps including The Ashokan Center, Swannanoa Gathering, and Augusta Heritage Center, among others.Full calendar for Swingin' Tern Dances.USEFUL INFORMATION:
•	Newcomers are welcome to come at 7pm for an introductory lesson on the basics of contra dancing before the evening dance.  No partner is necessary.  All dances are taught with a “walk-through” by the caller.
•	**The Afternoon Advanced Contras session is for Experienced Contra Dancers only.  You should be familiar with heys, petronellas, Rorey O’More, pass the ocean, orbits etc., with minimal prompting.  If not, please join us for the evening dance.
•	For the dinner break visit one of the 17 walkable restaurants within two blocks of the dance: Restaurant List.• Vaccination and Masks Optional.•	All dances at Swingin’ Tern are called to the gender-neutral terms Larks & Robins.  Dance whatever role you’re comfortable in.
•	We are in an air-conditioned hall along with the option for open windows on three sides.
•	Our dance is two blocks from the Chatham station on the Morris/Essex line out of Penn Station, NYC.
•	We welcome contributions of home-baked [or not] goodies to share at the break.
•	Please bring your own water bottle. Water bottles may be filled at the orange Igloo cooler.
•	Wear comfortable clothing.  Contra dancing is aerobic.  We prefer you carry in your shoes.
•	We are a friendly, inclusive group. Pack plenty of smiles!
