Summit Lilacs Rejuvenation Event

Did you know the beloved lilacs along the Summit Ave Parkway—creating that magical “lilac tunnel” each spring—were donated by neighbors 100 years ago when the parkway was first created? 💜

To keep them healthy and blooming for the next century, Saint Paul Natural Resources will be giving these historic shrubs a deep cut starting October 20. This important work will bring on strong new growth and ensure the lilacs remain a city treasure for generations.

👉 We need your help!
Join us on Wednesday, October 22, 4–6 pm to stack the branches for removal. Gloves, snacks, and beverages will be provided—just bring your energy and love for Summit’s green heritage. (minimum volunteer age 16)

📍 Meet along the center parkway west of Lexington Ave across from 1190 Summit Ave near Dunlap (you'll see us in the safety vests!).
