For decades, Light Up St. Matthews has been a cherished holiday tradition that brings together thousands of residents and visitors to celebrate the season. This free community event is packed with festive fun for all ages: live music, train rides, letters to Santa, photos with Santa, and plenty of hands-on activities for kids.
Enjoy complimentary cookies and hot chocolate as you take in the sights and sounds of the holidays. Most activities are under a large heated tent, so the celebration continues rain or shine!

📍 Brown Park, St. Matthews (corner of Kresge Way & Browns Lane, next to Baptist Health Louisville)
🚗 Free parking available at 4007 & 4003 Kresge Way with a signaled crosswalk for easy access.
🎅 A Few Tips:
To make sure everyone gets a chance to meet Santa, photo lines will close in time for him to head to the stage by 6:00 PM for the big light-up moment. It closes before 6PM. Arrive early to avoid the wait—trust us, you don’t want to miss it!
💡 At 6:00 PM sharp, watch as Brown Park bursts to life with thousands of dazzling holiday lights, officially kicking off the holiday season in St. Matthews. The lights will remain on every evening through the New Year for everyone to enjoy.
