Step into a morning of color, calm, and creativity in the welcoming setting of JoAnna Jackson’s home studio.
In this intimate, hands-on workshop, you’ll explore the traditional art of handmade watercolor making — transforming pure pigment into luminous paints you’ll treasure.
Working at your own pace, you’ll learn how to:
*Combine natural pigments with watercolor binder
*Mull and mix paints by hand
*Pour and finish your own set of 12 watercolor pans
A brief mid-morning break will allow you to stretch, enjoy light refreshments, and savor the quiet studio atmosphere.
Throughout the morning, JoAnna will share her process, insights, and the joy found in creating your own materials. You’ll leave with your finished watercolor set, printed recipes and notes, and the satisfaction of having made something entirely your own.
All materials and tools are provided. Light refreshments will be served.

No experience needed — just bring a love of color and curiosity for the handmade.
What to Bring
Just bring yourself and a sense of curiosity — everything else is provided.
All pigments, binders, tools, and supplies will be ready for you in the studio.
Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a bit of color on, and if you’d like, bring an apron.
Light refreshments, tea, and coffee will be available mid-morning.

Is this class beginner-friendly?
Yes! No prior experience is needed. Whether you’re a painter, a crafter, or simply someone who loves color, this workshop will guide you through every step of the process.
Will I really make my own paints?
Absolutely. You’ll make your entire 12-color watercolor set by hand, from measuring and mulling pigments to pouring your finished pans. You’ll go home with a complete, ready-to-use palette — entirely made by you.
Do I need to bring any supplies?
No — everything is included. However, if you have a favorite small brush or watercolor palette tin you’d like to fill, you’re welcome to bring it along. I will supply pans and a tin.
Where is the workshop located?
The class is held in JoAnna’s cozy home studio in St, Louis, MO.. The exact address and parking information will be provided after registration for privacy.
How many people will be in the class?
The workshop is limited to six participants to allow for individual guidance and a relaxed, creative pace.
What if I need to cancel?
Because class size is very limited, cancellations must be made at least 21 days in advance for a refund or credit toward a future workshop.
