We don’t visit sites of tragedy out of morbid curiosity, but because history’s darkest moments hold lessons for how we live.
In this presentation, therapist, educator, and critically acclaimed author Chad Scott, Ph.D. shares insights from his book Beyond the Darkness: Transformative Journeys Through Dark Tourism. Drawing on 25 years in the mental health field, 18 years teaching psychology, and his own personal experiences with anxiety, divorce, illness, and a life-saving liver transplant, Chad explores how places like Auschwitz, the Paris Catacombs, and Ground Zero challenge us to reflect on suffering, resilience, and the shared strength of the human spirit.
Through vivid storytelling and heartfelt reflection, Chad reveals how “walking through darkness” can help us grow, honor memory, and discover meaning in our own lives.
Key Questions Explored:
What can we learn from humanity’s most difficult moments?
How do these places help us confront our own struggles and mortality?
What does it mean to bear witness to history and come away changed?
Join us for this powerful blend of history, psychology, and healing as we reflect on the light that waits Beyond the Darkness. Reserve your spot today!
