This month we're reading A Seal of Salvage by Clayton B. Smith, a Newfoundland and Labrador author.

Set in 1950s outport Newfoundland, this queer coming-of-age novel blends local folklore with magical realism as two boys navigate first love, family expectations, and the mysteries surrounding a centuries-old family curse.

Whether you've read every page or are just curious to hear the discussion, everyone is welcome. Our book club is a relaxed, inclusive space to connect with fellow readers, discover queer stories, and build community.

We have a few hard copies of the book from the library to give out to participants and it can also be purchased locally at Breakwater Books. Please reach out to gemm@stjpride if you'd like to borrow a copy!
