Blueberry Pickers are a five-piece string band of musicians local to St. John’s, who met while playing together at The Ship’s monthly Bluegrass Brunch. Blending bluegrass and old-time tunes with classic country and folk songs, the ensemble mixes winsome sounds of the past with energetic, contemporary arrangements.

Emily Hunt lays down lively rhythms on the upright bass, backed by Meghan McCarthy’s hard-driving guitar and Kate McCann’s plunky, clawhammer banjo. Mandolin player Blair Long fills out the sound with dynamic riffs and melody lines, and you can expect blazing breaks from guitarist Kieran Dooley. Each member alternates leading songs, taking solos, and contributing harmonies, creating a group that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Their first single “Hello Stranger” was released this spring, a nod to the Hazel and Alice classic featuring Emily and Meghan’s tight harmonies and peppy backing from the band.

Our max capacity is 35 so larger groups (>3 people) should purchase tickets well ahead of time. Walk-ins may be available on the day of the show - please drop in or call 709-722-9167 to confirm.

Our Kitchen closes at 3:00pm, but snacks and baked treats are available till 9:00.

Please arrive at least 15 mins early to get seated and avoid the rush. Groups of 3 or more will be assigned a table; free seating for singles and couples. Please check in with our staff before seating yourself.

Seats will be held for 1 hr after the show start, after which they may be given to walk-ins. Tickets can also be transferred - login to https://locarius.io/.

Refunds can be requested up to 1 day before the show date. Please contact Coffee@batterycafe.ca to request a refund.
