Join a new hands-on group in St Andrews where you’ll explore the story of golf in the home of the game. Inspired by the collections of the Museum, you’ll learn how real historians and museum professionals research, collect and preserve the past.Over three sessions, you’ll investigate golf’s hidden stories, work with historical materials and you may even be inspired to build a small collection of your own – through objects, photographs and local stories.17 July - "How do we learn about golf history?" - looking at collections, books and archives, handling objects to discover what we can learn from these items.31 July - "Collecting Golf History" - what do we collect and why, how do we catalogue items, stories from the community and promote hidden voices.14 August - "Building your own archive" - pick an object or person from history and write a short description of it, create your own mini display or create a social media story about the importance of it.No experience needed – just curiosity. Ideal for anyone interested in careers in museums, heritage or sport. This would be perfect for kids ages 12+, but younger ones can join in to some of the elements and accompany older siblings.Limited spaces available.
