Compton Heights and Compton Hill Historic House Tour
Compton Heights-Compton Hill 2019 Historic House Tour
Two of St. Louis' finest historic neighborhoods, Compton Heights and Compton Hill -- long celebrated for gorgeous turn-of-the-century architecture -- will host a house tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sep 28 and Sunday, Sep 29. The public is invited to tour up to nine gracious homes built from the turn of the 19th century and beyond with original stained-glass windows and intricate woodwork, staircases and elegant features.
The tour is scheduled to include the first floor and basement bowling alley of the famed Magic Chef Mansion, a stunning showplace home and the crown jewel of the area. A biergarten with cold drinks and food will be on Magic Chef Mansion grounds.
Advance tickets with a discounted rate for $25 each may be purchased at eventbrite.com, if purchased before 5 p.m. on Monday, Sep 23.
Tour tickets may be purchased the days of the tour --Sep 28 and 29-- for $30 each at the Tour Entrance, 3400 Russell Blvd. Children under 4 are free when accompanied by an adult.
Tour-goers may walk, drive or use trams available at no charge throughout the tour.
These neighborhoods haven’t had a house tour in three + years, and several homes have never before been on tour. The Spring 2016 Compton Heights/Compton Hill House Tour had over 4,000 tour goers, so with limited tickets sales, please purchase tickets early to ensure your spot in this spectacular home tour.
Purchased tickets may be used for either day of the tour.
Please note, spiked heels are not allowed and some homeowners may require shoe booties or removal of shoes. Also, no food or beverages will be allowed inside the homes.
