As you may know, anywhere from three to twenty cats and kittens reside at Tenth Life's home-like storefront while they await their forever homes. Curious cats and kittens make for a fun yoga experience and a fundraiser like this one not only introduces more people to the work of Tenth Life while directly supporting it, it helps to socialize the cats who live there, as well.

ABOUT THE CLASS...

We love how our community rises to the occasion but we realize that helping others and caring a great deal can be just as exhausting as it is exhilarating and fulfilling. Cats n' Mats Yoga at Tenth Life is a friendly, non-judgmental environment where anyone at any level can join in to relax and balance your passions with your human need for self-care, down-time, laughter, friendship and a sense of community. Wear what you want. Work at your own pace. Just breathe.

This is a completely open-level yoga class. You only need a mat and a love of cats to participate! And we have a couple of mats if you don't have one. Curious kitties will be meandering about whilst we get our stretch on. This class is meant to be fun and nourishing to our bodies and souls while helping Tenth Life give cats the lives they deserve!

Tickets are available for just $15 each and because our instructors have generously donated their time, 100% of the proceeds help cats in need!

*$15 of every ticket purchased goes directly to Tenth Life. There may also be a small processing fee incurred during checkout.

Because this is a fundraiser for Tenth Life and our instructors graciously donates their time to make this event possible, we do not offer refunds but you can feel good about doing good for cats and the community while also doing something good for yourself. To prepare you for a fun experience, here are a few important things to remember:

• Class begins at 6:30PM and will run until 7:30PM.
• Doors open 15 minutes before the event at 6:15PM.
• Please try to arrive early to secure your spot on the floor ... and hang out with kitties!
• Please note that doors will close at 6:30PM. Stragglers will not be admitted once class begins so don't dawdle!
• If you're allergic to cats, please remember to take your meds because kitties may be all up in your grill.

ABOUT DENA...

Dena French (she/her/hers) discovered yoga in 2002 through a required PE credit course in college. Following that experience her interest and passion grew, leading her down a path of self-discovery, increased mindfulness, and improved overall health. After 12 years of practice, Dena took the next step and completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training with Urban Breath Yoga.. Dena recently completed an additional 300-hour advanced teacher training with Yoga Buzz.

Dena offers classes that are creative yet simple; challenging yet accessible; and that invite deeper exploration physically, mentally, and spiritually. She meets students where they are on their yoga journey, recognizing that everyone has their own unique reason for coming to the mat.

Dena has a passion for food and nutrition and works full-time in higher education where she directs a program that prepares future registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs). She also teaches yoga and fitness classes at various gyms and studios in the St. Louis area. You can currently catch one of Dena’s classes at the YMCA, Shanti Yoga, or Urban Breath Yoga.

In her spare time, Dena enjoys reading and watching sci-fi and superhero TV shows and movies with her husband and two kitties, whom they adopted at Tenth Life!

Tenth Life provides veterinary care, foster homes, and adoptive placement to stray cats and kittens, prioritizing those with special needs and injuries. We work to end unnecessary euthanasia and cat homelessness through educational outreach, community programs, and collaborative partnerships.

Plenty of street parking is available nearby, metered and un-metered.

What should I bring to the event?

Your yoga mat, a love of cats, a water bottle, and a sense of humor!

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

There is no need to print or bring your ticket. We will look you up by name upon arrival.

What is the refund policy?

Because this is a fundraiser, there are no refunds and all ticket sales are final. We hope you'll make it to class but if you're called away on business or something else, we don't mind if you transfer your ticket to a friend. Is this event family-friendly?

This event is intended for adults 18 and older only. We will not have childcare available.

Is this event accessible?

If there's ever any assistance you need to feel supported, please let us know. If you would like to request an assistant, sign language interpreter, or any other type of individual support, please give us two weeks of notice to search for a volunteer to assist you. If you have a caregiver or an assistant you'd like to attend alongside you, please let us know in advance so that we can be sure to accommodate you properly.
