We'll be watching Parade: Queer Acts of Love & Resistance. The film takes viewers on an unflinching journey through Canada's 2SLGBTQI+ history, capturing the pivotal protests and passionate voices that ignited a movement of love and resistance. From drag shows and community organizing to police raids and protests on Parliament Hill, the film honours the elders and activists whose defiance helped shape a more inclusive society. 

Before the movie, we'll learn how to create embroidered portraits that honour the legacy of activists and visionaries. We'll learn the basics and can keep working while we watch, or you can take your supplies home to finish.

All supplies will be provided, including a selection of photos, but you're welcome to bring your own photo of anything you'd like to embellish. Alternatively, you can opt to bring your own supplies and work on another project during the movie--decorate a pride flag, knit, crochet, or make a collage.

The optional craft workshop on creating embroidered portraits will begin at 6pm.

The movie will start at 6:45pm and has a run time of 1h 36min.
