- **Event Name**: The Literary and Artistic History of Mrs. Claus
- **Event Start and End Date**: Thu, 04 Dec, 2025 at 12:15 pm – Thu, 04 Dec, 2025 at 01:30 pm
- **Event Description**: Mrs. Claus, the wife and partner to the global superstar Santa Claus, needs little introduction as she has been part of American Christmas since 1849. Mrs. Claus has undergone numerous reinventions over the decades. She has been described as a fairy, an elf, a saint, a spirit, a redhead, brunette and blonde, portrayed as a girl, young woman, a wife, mother and a grandmother of old. Through all her various incarnations she has evolved as the premier heroine of Christmas literature, her character a vibrant role model for modern times.

Wondrous Mrs. Claus is the result of a literary sleuthing endeavor that sought to find all the works written about the character. Works were in vintage periodicals, newspapers, journals and books.

Author McColl chronicles the development of the character since her debut in 1849, including Mrs. Claus’ rather remarkable involvement in the mid-late 19th century suffrage movement. McColl will read aloud her favorite poems and stories written about the beloved character. Mrs. Claus is also known for her wisdom, resilience and resourcefulness and the essence of the character will be explored.
