Discover the importance and magic of saving seeds, both in the garden and in the wild! Learn about climate zones, as well as plant taxonomy, life cycles, pollination, and propagation to better understand how to save your seeds. Study seed anatomy and distinguish different seed types based on selective pollination. Walk away feeling confident in your new knowledge with additional resources, as well as important considerations for next steps in your seeds’ journeys to germination. By the end of this course, you'll be ready to properly gather, process, store, and even eat your seeds!

Participants will take home some of their very own Taliesin seeds!

About the Instructor:

Abbie Gale Lehman grew up on a small farm in the Driftless and has been an avid gardener and forager for years. After earning her degree in Geography/Environmental Science from UW-Platteville, her appreciation for the Driftless only grew. “We are situated in such a unique place in so many ways. Understanding cultural, geological, and ecological changes over time really underlined for me how special this area is.” In recent years, Abbie has worked fervently within the farm-to-table movement, both on the farm and in the kitchen. Abbie is the Kitchen Gardener at Taliesin Preservation.
