Native plants are an integral part of a healthy ecosystem, but they can also play an important role in a healthy garden! Kitchen Gardener, Abbie Lehman, will share her experience companion planting with native plants in the Kitchen Garden at Taliesin. Learn companion planting methods and benefits, as well as common garden companions. Discover native plants in our area, why they are important, the benefits they can provide to you and your garden, and how to incorporate them.

Participants will make and take home a botanical print of their favorite native plant in the Kitchen Garden!

If we do not have seven participants signed up one week prior to the class, we reserve the right to cancel.

About the Instructor:

Abbie Gale Lehman grew up on a small farm in the Driftless and has been an avid gardener and forager for years. After earning her degree in Geography/Environmental Science from UW-Platteville, her appreciation for the Driftless only grew. “We are situated in such a unique place in so many ways. Understanding cultural, geological, and ecological changes over time really underlined for me how special this area is.” In recent years, Abbie has worked fervently within the farm-to-table movement, both on the farm and in the kitchen. Abbie is the Kitchen Gardener at Taliesin Preservation.
