Time Baby is an eclectic jazz fusion band that prioritizes the art of creating and performing original music. They value improvisation as an artistic medium. All of their instrumentalists have established roots in the Spokane music scene. 

About the band:

Caleb Brown (saxophone), grew up north of Spokane and graduated from Whitworth University. Caleb is a dynamic performer with experience in a wide array of musical genres, including with his father, Kevin Brown (host of Front Porch Bluegrass on SPR), and with the band Super Sparkle. Originally from the Seattle area, Ben Dysart (drums) attended Eastern Washington University for a degree in music education and now teaches band at Deer Park Middle School. Tim Zilar (guitar) also attended EWU, and has training in both guitar and percussion. Tim teaches locally and is an integral part in many bands, including the Spokane Jazz Orchestra. Lauren McKinley (vibraphone/percussion) was raised in Cheney, WA and eventually received a MM Jazz Studies (composition) degree from the University of North Texas. She arranges and composes music in addition to playing in other local music groups. Riley Gray (keyboards) has been an established jazz pianist in the area since moving here for college. He is an active performer, playing in many acts around town. Riley also maintains an active teaching schedule. Mercy Maxson (guitar), has also established herself as a facet in the Spokane music scene, playing a variety of musical styles in local bands around town including the cinematic rock band Everyone Loves a Villain. Lauren and Caleb met while participating in the Spokane All-City Jazz program in high school. The rest of the band met while they were music students at EWU. 

In 2023, Time Baby was announced one of three winners of the inaugural Spokane Public Radio Firehouse Sessions contest. Spokane's local arts and culture newspaper, the Inlander, featured Time Baby as one of their “ Artists to Watch” in 2025.
