September Film: Do the Right Thing (1989)

On the hottest day of summer, a Brooklyn neighborhood boils over into racial violence between an Italian owned pizza shop and the primarily African American and Hispanic community. The disagreement between the pizza shop owner and his clientele starts simple but quickly unravels as frustration builds. The film provides powerful commentary on bigotry, community, and responsibility. 

Directed by Spike Lee. Run time: 2hr. Content warning: profanity. Rated R.
