Vitrigraph Stringer Workshop: Pulling Lines Shaping Light
Discover the magic of molten glass in our Vitrigraph Stringer Workshop, where heat, gravity, and movement transform glass into flowing strands of color. In this hands-on fused glass experience, students will learn how vitrigraph stringer is created and then use their own hand-pulled glass to design a one-of-a-kind finished piece.
You’ll begin by exploring the vitrigraph process—how glass is melted in a kiln and pulled through small openings to create delicate, thread-like strands called stringer. Each student will have the opportunity to try their hand at pulling vitrigraph, experiencing the rhythm and control required to guide molten glass into elegant lines.
Using the stringer you create, you’ll design two individual 8" x 8" pieces. Emphasis will be placed on thoughtful line placement, movement, balance, and creative composition as you build your unique glass artwork.
After the initial firing, you’ll have the option to leave your piece flat for display or have it slumped into a functional art form. Please note: finished pieces are not food safe.
