Steinway Piano Gallery Ottawa is pleased to present an intimate concert series for chamber music lovers. Experience music among a small group of fellow music lovers in an intimate setting, close enough to be a part of the music.
We are grateful to our hosts of this concert series whose love of music and community has led them to open their homes for this exclusive series, and our artists are thrilled to be performing on the hosts' beautiful piano.

EMILY HOU
Known for her sensitive colours, dramatic expression, and signature smile, Korean-Canadian pianist Emily Hou is quickly establishing herself as a thoughtful and engaging performer in Canada, the United States, and Europe.
She has performed at esteemed venues such as the National Arts Centre, Carnegie Hall, Beethoven-Haus, and Museu Romântico, with appearances at major festivals and concert series including Portopianofest, Ottawa Chamberfest, Domaine Forget de Charlevoix, and Orford Musique. Emily has been featured in masterclasses with Benedetto Lupo, Clare Hammond, Stewart Goodyear, Gary Graffman, and Angela Hewitt, as well as taught her own masterclasses at Steinway Piano Gallery Ottawa. Her recording of Reflections in the Water (2021) by Juno Award nominee Vincent Ho has been praised as “simply FANTASTIC”, with “beautiful musical touch” and “terrific feeling for [the] narrative arc”. It is showcased on his official website as the representative interpretation of the piece.
Emily’s top achievements include 1st place at the OMFA Open-Level Competition (2023), ORMTA-ORB Young Artist Competition (2023), and uOttawa Chamber Music Competition (2022). She also received the RCCO Award for Best Bach Performance at the Ottawa Piano Festival (2023) and Gold-standing at the Crescendo International Music Competition (2018), which included an exclusive invitation to perform in their exchange program in Germany and Belgium.
With the loving support of her parents, Emily began her musical journey at the age of 5. She holds a LRCM diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Ottawa, where she studied with David Jalbert. Recognized for academic excellence on the Dean’s List, community volunteering at senior residences, and leadership as President of the music student association (ADÉMSA), she received the Faculty of Arts Award of Excellence (2022) and Friends of NACO Distinguished Leadership Award(2023).
Emily is currently based in Montreal, completing her Master’s Degree in Piano Performance at the Université de Montreal under the tutelage of Jean Saulnier and Charles Richard-Hamelin.
She is excited to share her latest program with the Spencerville community through the Steinway House Concert Series!
