It's seed dreaming and garden planning season and time to mark you calendar for the 13th annual Spearfish Seed Swap! The seed swap is a wonderful chance to get together with other local farmers, gardeners, and growers, to share seeds, stories, and ideas. This is a free event, everyone is welcome. In addition to sharing seeds, there will be presentations by local gardeners, and activities for young (and young at heart) seed enthusiasts.
Please bring excess packets, unwanted varieties, self-saved seeds, out of date packets, and left over, partially used packets to share. Empty envelopes to reuse would also be appreciated.
Kids' activities include the "Seed a Seed" microscope with Black Hills Bricks, Bots, and Beakers and Semillas de Todos Colores with Spearfish Spanish, a seed pool, garden stories for young readers, and make your own wild flower seed bombs.
Swap seeds and stay to hear from local gardeners and farmers: talk topics include winter sowing and native wildflower seed collection, and making space for pollinators and other beneficial insects.
Sat. Feb 28th, 11am - 2:00PM at the library - looking forward to seeing you at the seed swap!
