Dancing at Lughnasa brings the intimacy of Irish family life to The Matthews stage in a way you’ve never experienced theater before. This acclaimed Brian Friel play has captivated audiences worldwide with its tender portrait of five sisters navigating love, loss, and resilience in 1930s Ireland. Set against the backdrop of the ancient harvest festival of Lughnasa, the story weaves together laughter, tension, and the unbreakable bonds that hold a family together through hardship. With direction by Shirlene and immersive set design by David, this production transforms the space into the Mundy family home, drawing you directly into their world.
Step into the family circle for four nights only, March 26–29, 2026. This intimate staging features thrust platforms and in-the-aisle moments that bring the action close enough to feel every whispered secret and burst of joy. Limited seating creates an up-close experience you won’t find anywhere else. Doors open at 6:30 PM, curtain at 7:00 PM. Two exclusive upper box packages include wine, cheese, and premium seating. The bar opens one hour before showtime.
